May     Schinkel leaves Rome and spends the summer traveling in Sicily.

May-June     Friedrich von Schiller visits Berlin and Potsdam; he contemplates changing his residence from Weimar to Berlin.     Madame de Stael (1766-1817), exiled by Napoleon in 1803, visits Berlin. She establishes contact with members of literary circles in the capital, especially Friedrich Karl von Savigny (1779-1861). Her work on Germany, De l'Allemagne, is published in 1810.

Schinkel is in Paris during the month of December.

Death of Immanuel Kant in Konigsberg/East Prussia.
