Canachus (Kanachos)
sculptor.
A contemporary of Agelaidas of Argos, he represents the school of Sicyon just before the Persian wars. His most important work was a statue of the Didymean Apollo in the temple of that deity at Miletus in Asia Minor.


Smilis
sculptor and architect.
Smilis was probably from Ęgina, Greece. He flourished in the sixth century B.C., and was associated with Theodorus and Rhoecuss in the construction of the labyrinth at Lemnos and the Temple of Hera at Samos. He made the statue of Hera in that temple, and a group of the Hours, which was preserved in the Heraion at Olympia.
