In 1990, when a German cousin and her boyfriend were visiting me, they were shocked when I drove them through the cemetery where my father was to be (and now is) buried. Apparently, it is taboo, if not outright forbidden, to drive an automobile through German cemeteries. The young couple actually treated the event as something they never in their life expected to.
