Bentley was not developed by NASA.
INTERGRAPH 2D and 3D CAD was developed (in the late 1970s) for NASA, particularly to generate the construction documents of the space shuttle.
The Bentley brothers worked independently (in Philadelphia 1986) to make Intergraph software workable on a PC and eventually suceeded. The basic operations of today's Bentley software is thus INTERGRAPH CAD.
ARRIS CAD was also first developed by (others) that first wrote CAD programs for INTERGRAPH. In 1987, ARRIS CAD was the only 3D CAD software workable on a PC comparable to INTERGRAPH 3D.
