Porta Pinciani |
The porta Pinciana, originally not a porta, but a posterula enlarged and rebuilt at a later date, perhaps by Honorius, consists of an arch of travertine, flanked by two semicircular towers, of which the bases only are of travertine. The threshold of the gate is formed of slabs of travertine, taken from some earlier building, on one of which is a fragmentary inscription. (Platner) |
