Encyclopedia Ichnographica | Porticus ad Nationes | 1/1 |
|
| In connection with [the Porticus Pompei] was one built by Augustus, and called the porticus ad Nationes, because it contained statues representing all the nations of the earth. It is possible, however, that this was not a separate porticus, but only a portion added to the porticus Pompei. No remains of the latter exist above ground, but its lines are known from earlier discoveries, and some fragments have been found in recent years. (Platner) |
