diptych: architecture and thinking twice

thinking
[thinking just now:] a calendrically mnemonic museum design
[now laughing:] "So that's what he does with all his time!"

thinking
Why exactly does authorship have to be radically rethought? Moreover, why does radical rethinking of authorship have to result in a letting go of control and ego?

thinking
I haven't seen a Fassbinder film in many years, but I do remember feeling that Fassbinder often captured the "scenes" that I could only imagine while thinking about family stories I was told.

thinking
I like the series too, but it's kind of funny how it's easy to do once I got the idea and saw the first results. This is slightly disturbing since the "ho hum" stuff usually takes a lot more time and effort (and even more thinking).

twice
[co]Incidentally, Athanasius, the same Bishop that was twice exiled to Trier, was the first great theologian of the Incarnation.

thinking
When it comes to religious architecture, what interests me most is the architecture "built" by the Empress and Saint Helena, and I hardly have to explain any further to this audience. But it should be noted that, although I enjoy this interest/work, it is hardly an area of investigation that fits comfortably within the architectural thinking of our time.

thinking
So that means a designer with one hand missing or with artificial hands using CAD just can't be an architect? Perhaps there will need to be a law to stop this discrimination (thinking), like when CAD is voice activated.

thinking
Perhaps I'm a minority or even unique in this thinking, but, of all the forms of architectural representation, architectural photography appeals to me the least.

twice
Thomas Mann happens to be one of my few favorite authors. I've read The Magic Mountain twice, and boy do I get mad at the whole climax being in French, a language I can't read!

thinking
Now, thinking of Schloß Herrenchiemsee, why can't all BIG BOXES look like Versailles on the outside and empty shells on the inside.

thinking
The beginning of my thinking about reenactment (and subsequently reenactionary architecturism) is integral with my investigative research regarding the meaning of Piranesi's Ichnographia Campus Martius.

thinking
Today, I was mostly thinking about Baroness Franziska von Ow. Earlier this year, my mother told me that, although the Baroness had her own car and, before the war, her own chauffeur, in 1943 the Baroness's car was in the garage, albeit without tires--the Baron's car was confiscated outright so he took the trolley to work as Dean of the agricultural machinery department of Munich's technical university. On most days, the Baroness left the villa on her bike and apparently rode into town, or, as my mother says, "Who knows where she went."

thinking
As to "BTUs and lifestyle," you've got me thinking, and I've come to the conclusion that a modern lifestyle doesn't even exist without abundant BTUs.

thinking
I know you'll never admit to my original thinking regarding Duchamp and reenactment, because then you'd have to also admit to reenacting me.

thinking
I too was thinking of McMansions last night. Swarms of clones sprawling over the US suburban landscape. But notice too what these homes try so hard to reenact, essentially the 'lifestyle' of very wealthy people from quondam times.

thinking
Thinking about what architectures these day are really political, I wouldn't count Peter Eisenman's among them. What I would count are "the great wall of Israel," US military bases all over the globe, any secured border checkpoints, architectures like that.

thinking
I went through this exhibit rather quickly two Friday's ago. I have to go back, but so far what I enjoyed the most was a video of a present day funeral(s) in Ghana, where the departed are buried in coffins that are simulations of recognizable objects, like the multi-purpose screwdriver coffin in the video and the Mercedes Benz limo coffin on display. I was thinking "before I go, make sure I'm a Ghanor."

twice
I averaged 80MPH when I drove on the Autobahn; my plumber said he averaged 100MPH. We both had the experience of a Porsche passing us respectively at what seemed to be twice our speeds.

thinking
Barnes celebrated his birthday yesterday, 2 January, and he loves all the new attention. He’s trying to influence a whole new arrangement of his art, he’s thinking: "It should be even more confounding. The Youth Study Center (juvenile jail) building should be kept, and all the art should go in there. Now that would make an impression."

thinking
I kind of remember thinking these books were not "inspirational" enough (for me) back then.

thinking
Is the modus operandi of genius loci today manifest by the notion of thinking locally and acting globally?
