Piranesi's Campo Marzio
Janosh 2003.01.22 22:54
Xavier Costa, in a class he taught at the AA while I was there, related it to museological strategies/memory aids. Not sure that this is what you are asking, and I don't know if he ever published such a thing.
Piranesi's Campo Marzio

Janosh, when where you at the AA when Costa taught the class including the Campo Marzio plan. Your answering/adding-to my question quite nicely (thanks), and Costa's approach sounds relevant and interesting. I know Aitken's thesis from McGill 1995, where he relates the Campo Marzio and Vico's New Science--a very good thesis where reenactment is first attached to the Campo Marzio interpretations, and one that indeed precurses much of what I came to discover.
