correct, an accident involves a loss of control. in architecture you can look at control in terms of authorship. eisenman and his designers created a system, or set of preconceived criteria through which the computer spit out formal variations on a theme.
i am not aware of a single architect that has explored a process that suspends or radically rethinks authorship. we are exploring the concept and it is difficult because it challenges everything we are about in an institutional sense. one needs to let go of control and ego, while retaining a sense of passion and connection to the project.
i suggest you read mediators by gille deleuze. he discusses these issues fairly clearly in this piece.

Why exactly does authorship have to be radically rethought? Moreover, why does radical rethinking of authorship have to result in a letting go of control and ego?
