A handsome first edition of Audubon’s The Birds of America (1839–1844), royal octavo edition. Complete in seven volumes with 500 hand-colored lithographed plates, this landmark set was designed to make Audubon’s ornithological masterpiece more accessible to collectors—while introducing 65 new images not found in the monumental elephant folio.

451.rhawn.gallery . . . Teenaged John James Audubon spent his first 4/5 months in the United States (1803-04) living at Ury House/Farm, adjacent Fox Chase and Pennypack Creek. He briefly wrote about the experience himself. I presently live on and own a small part of the Ury House estate, and I have no doubt John James often spent time in my back yard, because just beyond the still existing ha-ha is where the farm's two buffalo once roamed.

@stephenlauf... From March 1980 to May 1981 I lived in the third floor front apartment in the building, then Riesman Funeral Home, to the left/north of the PECO building while finishing my Bachelor of Architecture degree at Temple University. I loved living on (North) Broad Street.

@stephenlauf... [Broad Street] the longest straight street in the world.

@stephenlauf... ps you, hiddencityphila, and I, Stephen Lauf, have to now work together to correct your decade or so old posting of the 'history' of Ury House! That's where I live now and what you posted is full of untruths that, in all good conscience, now need to be fixed, and, whether you want to believe it or not, I am the only one that knows Ury House's actual true history. Do not delay in getting in touch with me because the real truth(!) is what matters here.

Fred Moore informs Stephen Lauf via text (3:48 pm):
Steve - We have a conflict with May NEPHN meeting. Can we reschedule the Ury House presentation to Wed, Sept 3, 2025?

To which Stephen Lauf replies (4:03 pm):
Sure, Sept. 3, 2025 is fine. If I may ask, what's the conflict?

Fred Moore calls Stephen Lauf on the phone. The May NEPHN meeting conflict regards Jack McCarthy having to give a presentation on Poquessing Creek historical development in relation to a grant received. Furthermore, Fred tells Steve the NEPHN June 2025 field trip meeting will be at Trinity Oxford Church, which is different than Fred's intention a month earlier of potentially having the NEPHN June 2025 field trip meeting at the Medical Mission Sisters Archive. To end, Fred informs Steve the highest land elevation of Northeast Philadelphia is not at the intersection of Susquehanna Road and Ridgeway Street (228 feet), rather at the site of the water tanks along Tomlinson Road (240 feet).

Subsequently, Fred send a text to Steve (5:20 pm):
Google Earth Elevation Profile of line connecting Ury House and Tomlinson Rd Water Tanks shows Ury elevation 228 ft and Water Tanks about 263. Topo map indicates 228 at Ury and 240 near water tanks. The GE profile shows 273 ft at a point between the two, off Darlington Ave between Welsh and Allburger. The highest elevation I found on Google Earth was 290ft in that area. All with questionable accuracy.

Lauf is immediately suspicious of Moore's motives in all that Moore has told him, largely that it's all Moore's antagonistic reaction to Lauf's belief that Oxford Avenue and Huntingdon Pike are Lenni Lenape infrastructure still in use, and that this particular piece of Lenni Lenape infrastructure played (and still plays) a significant role in the history of the land where Ury House once stood.
