With modern Charleston building off the table, Clemson looking to lease space for its architecture center
Volunteer, the immediate surroundings of George and Meeting streets are a real mish-mash of building quality and style, not unlike any US city these days. Stop trying to ram you biases down our throats.

With modern Charleston building off the table, Clemson looking to lease space for its architecture center
The bias here means having a strongly felt position on what kind of architecture is NOT appropriate for Charleston. Like I said already, the whole surroundings of George and Meeting streets are a real mish-mash of building quality and style, not unlike any US city these days, thus demonstrating a pretty much anything-goes policy there. The bias against the Clemson design is very specific. Double standards is not deserving of respect.

Style of Texas homes in the 1980s
Perhaps look at some of the televisions shows of that era: Dallas, Knots Landing, Falcon Crest, Dynasty. Knots Landing was a kinda spin-off of Dallas set in Southern California. None of it Austin specific, but you'll get a real sense of wealthy 1980s residences.

LA's redesigned Petersen Automotive Museum: so bad the public will love it?
Aero-dynamic car design is basically the index of friction reduction. Older stream-line styling is basically the index of mass reduction due to high-speed friction. An automotive museum designed "aero-dynamically" would be an icon, and a stream-line style automotive museum would act more as a symbol. The Petersen Automotive Museum is basically the index of a large mass zooming by at high speed.

Bjarke Ingels and the challenges of designing Two World Trade Center
And if the media gave Gehry credit for having a relationship with art and Aalto, what difference would that make?
What separate residence did the Glass House require to be built?
What does 'museumy' mean?
...are you an architect that has a style or vision?

Reinier de Graaf: "The western architectural ivory tower has become a theatre of the absurd"
In that case, I, for one, have no preconceived expectation of what a BIG, ZHA or FOG work will look like. In fact, these are firms that I've come to watch how their "style" continually develops, and indeed more often than not deliver the unexpected.

Scott Merrill wins the 2016 Driehaus Prize
I've now decided to execute this design in imitation of the Classical style. After all, it's only natural for the cluster and meander of sculptural nudes to be complemented thusly.
