more
There are some items, such as elevation, section, Durchschnitt, porticus, plan, which are interesting, but not very evocative of long term development, likewise I'm not certain about Lauf-vague-s or casa-vague-s. I prefer almost, infrastructure, annexation, facade, trend?, physiology?, morphology?, iconoclasm?, infringement, nimiety.

OTHERWISE EYES directory ideas
hybrid: the arch of Janus; porticus Neroniani; Otto houses (at least 1 &2).
vapor: not there (but in the future) ideas?; bombastic architectural writing; a place for auto translations of bombastic texts? (I like this idea the most.)
ichnographia: begin with the subtext reenactment notes and straight away follow through with the graphics -- Steve's acropolis at/on the Horti Lucullani -- I'm very interested in what the scale comparison is.
Ottopia: begin with using the first htms but changing the texts and the images.
collection: begin with displaying the two early element libraries and the new mesh surface libraries.
innuendo: begin with an analysis of the Campo Marzio phallic plans plus some of its womb plans (both Area Martises).
annexation: play with the VSBA and Meier Frankfurt museum models and begin to "annex" them.
subcontinental: the possible India-Rome connection.
pieces: Campo Marzio contiguous elements.
nimiety: the redundancy of suburban sprawl versus the redundancy of "new urbanism".
paradigm: this is where I will address my theory of physiologically reenacting architectures.
interface: generate a bunch of questionnaires / surveys -- ask all kinds of "otherwise" questions.
otherwise-eyes: I'm not sure what goes here; my first inclination is to here explain what OTHERWISE EYES is and how it "operates".
acropolis: basically write out the history of Steve's acropolis mixed with my other thoughts on acropoli.
Piranesian-daze: this is where (all) Campo Marzio data gets exposure (if I want to do it that way).
scale: here I begin with the tallest (lately thinking of the record in terms of continual location -- Africa first.
theory: this is actually going to be a tough category because I'm assuming it has to be full of long articles. Actually, I could just fill it with short explanations/displays of what my theories are.
imagination: this is basically going to be the development of my Timepiece of Humanity imagination notes.
hyper: should this change to hyper-archi-text? and if so, does it turn out to be just texts full of links? [Of late, I'm thinking of here making the point that architecture that is beyond architecture is in fact architecture on the web, namely amazon.com, eBay.com, and even quondam.com -- all "buildings" that go well beyond architecture.]
almost: does this replace NOT THERE? Sure, why not? This is where I will document (and sometimes even fulfill) all the Quondam ideas that I've had although have not yet acted upon.
subcontinental: I'm simply going to scan the India architecture book along with adding my own ideas here and there, plus some inclusion of the "letters to India".
synopsis: I have the Papa. text and now I have to figure out what to do with it and how to do it.
archive: this can be anything from the vast digital data in my collection. [Of late, I'm thinking of setting up a revolving exhibit/display of the eBay image collection, with something like sets of fifty images at a time, which will remain online for something like a month or something. This will at the same time organize the data for myself.]
scan: do I treat this as a revolving exhibit of the scanned images I have? Perhaps that is exactly what I do and organize it in sets of 100. If nothing else I will compile an organized set of images.
Bibliothek: this is where the copyright free texts will appear, beginning with Synopsis. Plus, I will feature the contents of Quondam's library.

OTHERWISE EYES - continued work
facading -- designing buildings where the main facades are a flattened version of oblique facades already within Quondam 's collection. There upon the profile of the facades will be extruded. There are many variations and developments that this process will take, e.g., mesh extruding one profile into another; bending/folding the facades (vertically); applying new openings to the flat facades; create buildings with a different oblique facade on each side; use the "skin" elevations as flat facades.
plan -- displaying plans made up via collage and perspective.

ideas
A new (infringement) design for Strasbourg: the columns are fattened and some are eliminated altogether; the box is raised as high as the roof bottom; level 4 becomes the open air roof; the roof "enclosure" becomes the giant auditorium raised by the forest of columns. This idea came out of a further speculation of Strasbourg via Koolhaas and VPRO.

Quondam's Bibliothek
The notion of actively cataloguing and even generating books for an online library. A bibliothek directory provides the infrastructure for the existing and proposed projects. /bibliothek will house or at least catalogue all of Quondam's text projects to date.
/bibliothek will also house the digital versions of the copyright free books collected thus far. And the bibliothek offers the opportunity to experiment with the notion of creating many "lighter" books (like Hey Art... and 2=odd).

future work
...compose books that are completely cathartic, spontaneous, and indeed schizophrenic. Essentially, they will be a large set of web pages, but the pages will include text, images, dxf files, large scans, web art, virtual places, virtual tours, notes, letters, copyright free texts and images, digital collages, poetry, designs, etc., etc...

the new Quondam
...tapping into the "virtual's" greater potential, that being the ability to create something completely other in all respects. It's like the more unreal I make Quondam, the more something really other it becomes.

denial
The point is that today not all architectures are buildings. This is not to deny the real world, rather to recognize the notion that architecture, by architects, now has further options of being designed without the usual physical means.
I repeat, the new architecture of cyberspace does not replace real world architecture. If the implication is not clear, I then add that the new architecture of cyberspace does not deny real world architecture either.
In the several times I have brought up this issue within various venues, there is always the counter argument of an "either-or" attitude. Is it really that difficult to grasp that cyberspace offers a new, addition realm within which architects can design places? I use the notion of 'place' because the notion of a virtual building is only one type of cyber place.
I can well remember back in 1983 when I first learned and professionally utilized CAD, specifically the many, many professional colleagues (both in offices and academics) that saw no place within the field of architecture for computers and cad. That's the type of denial I was referring to.

Quondam as hypermuseum
01. continuation of "Lauf Haus der Kunst".
02. lots of new museum (model and plan) play.
03. museum annex development.
04. the working title museum.
05. something to do with the Ryerss Museum.
06. the local acropolis.
08. a solarized "photography" exhibit.
10. IQ as the plan of a hypermuseum(?).
...Quondam as hypermuseum to be the manifestation of designing and practicing (architecture) in cyberspace ideas... Quondam to display an exploitation of data in the digital realm to create entities that (can) only exist in the digital realm.

virtual architecture
I agree whole-heartedly that cyberspace offers a "parallel" realm within which to design and 'build'. The term I've used instead of parallel is 'other', as in the best architecture in cyberspace is something other than the architecture of the real world. I too am not interested in seeing the architecture of cyberspace merely being a reenactment of the real world. The real world of architecture already does an excellent job of reenacting itself.

AD[vocating] PUBLICITY
Virtual architecture can be many things, and not necessarily something facilitated by the internet. Virtual architecture that is facilitated by the internet, however, should reasonably utilize whatever the internet has to offer. There can be representation and there can be presentation. Virtual architecture can represent the world as we know it or it can present something other than the world as we know it. Personally, I think it more challenging and design-wise more stimulating to use virtual architecture facilitated by the internet to try presenting something other than what is already available.
Because I focused on creating an 'other than what is already there' museum I learned that collecting and exhibiting digital data only begets more and more and more digital data, i.e., I found myself with a[n architectural] collection that is virtually infinite. This virtual infinite characteristic comes from the intrinsic mutable nature of digital data. As an architect, I now see a virtual architecture challenge in now trying to design a virtual museum [of] architecture that matches the virtual infinity of its collection.

Re: quaestio abstrusa
I found the phrase in the English to Latin section of a pocket Latin/English dictionary. I was looking up the Latin word for puzzle and 'quaestio abstrusa' was the first entry.
abstrusus, abstursa, abstrusum is the Latin adjective for hidden, concealed and quaestio is a seeking, an inquiry, a questioning.

a real puzzle
...generate a real puzzle of a large plan, essentially providing pieces of an Ichnographia. ...each piece of the puzzle will be an image map containing links to other pages which can be text, clues, or just archived pages. These "background" pages could be very serendipitous and even abstruse and even labyrinthine in that they could offer links to ever deeper (obscure) pages.

Plus Ultra Houses
...houses that have morphed (mostly) into museums, and the Sessorian is featured as precursor of Western civilization's "treasure houses" -- the palace at Trier provides a second example of a(n Imperial) house to morph into a double basilica.
...a working model of the first Sessorian conversion (into Santa Croce in Gerusalemme), ...virtual/Quondam play, e.g., design the floor paving based on 'to scale' representations of other floor plans (like 5233, Steve's Acropolis?) and filling the interior elevations with renderings of other to scale elevations, animated.
The "plus ultra" in the title is the Latin for 'more beyond', or more hyper, and comes from the inscription over the library fireplace of Fonthill. After the discovery of the New World, the edges of maps said, "plus ultra."

Re: sketching
Quondam is much more than "an example of draughtsmanly-computerly." It is a true museum of architecture. I don't construct as many cad models as I used to (and no I don't need a manual constantly at hand), but I have worked on two models so far this year, namely the tower of Princeton Memorial Park (1966, unexecuted), perhaps Venturi and Rauch's most Kahnian building, and a reconstruction of the first rendition (c. 327 AD) of what is today Santa Croce in Gerusalemme --this is a large hall from what was once the Sessorian Palace, where Empress Helena lived in Rome between 313 and 326. I'm especially pleased with the quondam Sessorian hall. The model proved most enlightening with regard to beginning to understand what really happened during the paradigm shift in Western culture from Paganism to Christianity. I'd say any "drawing" that can do that goes somewhat beyond just "draughtsmanship".

Re: sketching
What has always attracted me to CAD (and other computer activities like word processing, image processing, etc.) is the ability to customize just about anything, from the way lines look, to the "scale" of the drawing, to the angle of perspective, to the look of the screen, etc., etc., etc. For me, all that gives drawing with CAD more "life" then I have ever experienced on a drawing board.
The other "lively" issue with CAD drawings is that they are never completely done, and never is there a sole original either. CAD drawings propagate! For example, in constructing the first Santa Croce in Gerusalemme I needed classical columns, so I effortlessly copied the columns from Quondam's (Schinkel's) Altes Museum model, reduced them in scale, and they look perfect. (not bad for less than ten minutes worth of work)
I've often wanted to make an issue of the fact that Quondam has an infinite collection precisely because almost all of it is in digital form. Any image and any cad database in the collection holds the potential to propagate any number of new images and databases. Moreover, each 3d CAD database holds the potential to generate any number of perspectives, axonometrics, and color/shaded renderings. I would never call any of this "lifeless", rather the exact opposite.
When I say that a New Dexterity should be taught to student architects, it is to teach them just how versatile CAD and other digital data is. Any data "at hand" is really an infinite set of data.
