The back of the Templ. Apollinis, the niched walls surrounding the Area Apollinis and on the opposite side of the circus, and the ends of the cellular walls surrounding the Naumachia Neronis are all planimetrically unresolved, thus rendering a peculiar graphic incompleteness and an ambiguity as to why Piranesi would have left this seemingly arbitrary portion of the Ichnograpia in such an indefinite state. Moreover, of all the circus plans delineated throughout the Ichnographia, the circus plan here is the only one without a label as to which circus it is.
