The bracket on the house at Domegge is a device that expedites the tense transition from symmetrical facade to symmetrical gable and at the same time accommodates the asymmetrical overhang on the right side. A vivid play of order and the circumstantial is, in fact, a characteristic of all Italian architecture, with its bold contradictions of monumentality and expediency.
